چکیده

Background: Since ancient times, chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) has been a significant contributor to middle ear illness. Antibiotics have extremely helpful, but is still frequent condition, and its consequences present challenge both otologists radiologists. Due the intricate anatomical nature of inner ear, radiological assessment temporal bone challenging.
Aim Study: To compare between preoperative CT scan findings with operative in patients CSOM undergoing tympanomastoidectomy.
Methodology: A Descriptive cross-sectional prospective adopted 35 Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media were admitted at Department Otolaryngology/ Alsulaymaniyah Teaching Hospital Otolaryngology, Head Neck Surgery, Zhian during period from February December 2015. detailed history careful physical examination, clinical tests revealed that all had Media, typically discharge hearing loss. Each patient their collected, they underwent thorough nose, throat examination as well an attentive otoscopic microscopic examination. Additionally, audiological evaluation included pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, HRCT.
Results: Thirty -five this study. The mean age was 33 years; 51.4% males 48.6% females. most common presenting symptom aural 71.4%; second one loss 28.6%. Mastoid pneumatization found 82.9% by while surgery, it 17.1%. showed involvement 11.4%, mastoid 54.3%, EAC, mastoid, While surgical disease 20%, 57.1%, 11.4%. for eroded Malleus, Incus integrity, stapes 31.4%, 37.1%, not visualized Incus, integrity 28.6%, 28.6% respectively. facial canal, lateral semicircular posterior external auditory canal wall, sigmoid sinus plate 12.4%, 8.6%, 22.9%, 11.4% order, wall 20.0%, 5.7%, 17.1%, 14.2% Both Integrity tegmen 32 (91.4%) intact tegmen, 3 (8.6%) scutum 25.7%.
Conclusions: current study concluded positive correlation many advantages planning eradication disease, choosing best approach & very important role orientation surgeon surgery avoid any possible complications.

Study of Correlation of Pre-Operative Findings with Intra-Operative Ossicular Status in Patients with Chronic Otitis Media

Introduction: Chronic otitis media (COM) has been broadly classified into mucosal and squamous subtypes. COM types are associated with erosion of the ossicular chain. The aim of the present study was to correlate the type of COM, the site of perforation/retraction, and the type of disease pathology with the pattern and degree of ossicular chain necrosis.   Materials and Methods: A prospecti...

Comparison of preoperative computerized tomography scan imaging of temporal bone with the intra-operative findings in patients undergoing mastoidectomy.

OBJECTIVE To compare the consistency rates of pre- and intra-operative radiological findings in patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM). METHODS In a cross-sectional study, 80 patients with CSOM underwent pre-operative CT scanning and we compared the results with intra-operative clinical findings during mastoidectomy from 2000-2004 in the Otology Department, Amiralmomenin Hospit...

Comparison of Preoperative Temporal Bone CT with Intraoperative Findings in Patients with Cholesteatoma

Introduction: Cholesteatoma is traditionally diagnosed by otoscopic examination and treated by surgery. The necessity for imaging in an uncomplicated case is controversial. This study was planned to investigate the usefulness of a preoperative high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan in depicting the status of middle ear structures in the presence of cholesteatoma and also to compare the...
